On December 14, 2025, a short video (Reel) involving students from a KECD school was circulated on Facebook. The content of the video raised concerns regarding child rights and included distressing elements, leading to significant public criticism.

Actions Taken

In response to this incident, officials from the KECD Headquarters, along with District and Township representatives, conducted a formal meeting with the teacher responsible for uploading the video and members of the School Committee.

Findings and Resolution

During the discussion, the teacher provided a full explanation of the situation:

Intent: She stated that the video was not posted with any malicious intent but was aimed solely at increasing social media engagement.

Remorse: She expressed deep regret for the harm caused by her actions and confirmed that the video has been removed from the platform.

Accountability and Next Steps

KECD has emphasized the necessity of providing adequate apologies and restorative support to the affected individuals. The following measures have been enforced:

Apology: The teacher is required to issue a formal and sufficient apology to those affected.

Commitment: She has been mandated to sign a formal undertaking stating that such incidents will not recur.

Disciplinary Warning: A stern warning has been issued, noting that any future violations will result in severe disciplinary action in accordance with established regulations.
