From January 16 to February 5, 2026, central staff members from the Karen Education and Culture Department (KECD) traveled throughout Taw Oo District to raise policy awareness in selected schools in Htaw Ta Htu and Daw Hpah Hkoh Townships. Throughout the visit, the delegation engaged in deep-dive discussions with local educators, focusing on the core pillars of the KECD’s mission: its comprehensive education policy and robust child protection and safeguarding protocols.

These meetings served as a crucial platform for teacher engagement, allowing staff to share insights into the current educational landscape and navigate the unique challenges facing the seven districts of Kawthoolei. By bridging the gap between central administration and frontline schools, the tour ensured that educators are better equipped to support their students within the region’s evolving situational context.
