The military has shelled villages with artillery, bombed school infrastructure, attacked and threatened schools, and used soft power (e.g. forcing the installation of their teachers into KECD schools; using religious leaders to deceive villagers and subvert local school systems) to undermine the Karen education system. These tragic acts of atrocity and crimes against humanity are still ongoing.
