On April 23, 2025, at 8:00 PM, in Doo Pla Ya District, Gru Tue Township, Win Ka village, Win Ka Middle School (#6053), the SAC deliberately dropped bombs on the school campus. This unlawful act resulted in the destruction of school buildings, including the classroom building, latrine, and teachers’ housing.
Throughout April, the SAC has been actively targeting education, religious sites, and communities. Just three days earlier, on April 19, 2025, the SAC also bombed Khaw Poe Pleh Monastery in Bilin Township, Doo Tha Htu District, causing the loss of innocent lives.
In the 2024–2025 academic year, a total of 1,093 students were enrolled, and 20 dedicated teachers at Win Ka School. Due to the destruction caused by the airstrike, continuing to operate the school at the same location raises serious safety concerns, which deeply affects both students and teachers mentally. In order to continue education in the upcoming school year and ensure the continuity of learning, rebuilding school facilities will be necessary.
The attack on this school, and others, has seriously disrupted the delivery and implementation of education services. As the department responsible for providing education, we view this as a direct threat to our mission. Therefore, we urgently demand to the international community to stand with us, advocate for the protection of education, and help prevent further attacks on schools.
