With heartbreaking sorrow, we would like to share the sad news about the loss of a student’s life due to a strong stream caused by heavy rainfall. The Karen Education and Culture Department (KECD) has always been preparing students to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills needed to lead their communities toward sustainability. The loss of this student is a big loss for both the community and for us.
On 15 October 2025, Maw Hkee Village in Kaw T’Ree Township, Doo Playa District, experienced heavy rainfall. The strong current tragically took the life of Saw Win Tun (age 12), a Grade 3 student.
This loss has brought huge sadness to his family members, and we deeply share their grief. At present, the community is facing both natural and man-made disasters. we sincerely hope that the safety and well-being of this community will be prioritized to help make the world a better and safer place for everyone.
