Airstrike and bombing on the village

In January 26, 2026, at 4:30 PM, in Mergui–Tavoy District, K’Ser Doh Township, Hpaw Taw East Village, the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) intentionally conducted an airstrike and bombing on the village. This criminal act resulted in damage to Hpaw Taw East Primary and Nursery School (No. 4261) and caused damage to religion buildings in the area.

A local leader stated, “A jet fighter dropped two bombs at around 4:30 PM, destroying the school building and a religious building. The religious building was completely destroyed.”

Currently, the community and villagers are living in fear and remain alert for their safety in case further bombing occurs. To ensure continuity of teaching and learning, schools in the area are operating in temporary hiding locations.

Due to these disruptions and violations of the community’s rights, providing social services has become extremely challenging. Therefore, we hope the international community will seek ways to work with us to prevent further harm, support the affected communities, and hold the perpetrators accountable.
