On 14/02/2024, 4:50 p.m., an incident occurred in Noh Law Plaw village, Hpa-An Township, Doo Tha Htu (Thaton) District, caused by the SAC’s K’Ma Moe (Kamamaung)-based 208th Battalion intentionally launching artillery shells into the local civilian community. As a result, one of the school teachers sustained significant injuries. Naw Sel Wah, 34 years old, the daughter of Saw Har Thein and Naw Mu Nor Pain, lives in Noh Law Plaw village and teaches at the Noh Aw Lar school.

According to local authorities, the teacher was sitting in the building when the artillery struck. Currently, the teacher is receiving urgent medical attention at a local hospital.

Two weeks earlier, on January 31, 2024, the same SAC unit launched artillery shells into another village in the same area, seriously injuring two children.

As attacks on the civilian populations in the area are now occurring on a regular basis, the communities are demanding their remote villages be protected by international law and justice.
