On February 23, 2024, at 15:42 pm, a SAC jet fighter conducted a bombing in Kaw T’ree (Kawkareik) township, Doo Pla Ya District, resulting in the injury of a teacher in Poh Yay (Pu Yin) high school. Currently, the teacher is receiving urgent medical attention.
Local community leaders report that the bombing occurred four times on that day – once in Waw Lu, twice in Poh Yay (Pu Yin), and once between Poh Yay and That Hpa Htaw village. This incident adds to a distressing pattern of intentional bombings by the SAC in the community.
The family of the injured teacher is not only grappling with the emotional distress, but also facing financial burdens due to this criminal act. This incident underscores the continued destruction faced by the community, as similar incidents – including the bombing of two schools earlier this month very close to this latest event – have become distressingly frequent.
The community expresses its deep concern and sadness for the affected family and calls attention to the need for a resolution to prevent further civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure caused by intentional bombings in the area right away. The case responsible team must start to progress prioritize addressing the root causes rather than merely treating the symptoms, giving unique attention to the needs of the suffering community.
