Flooding at Mae Tha Wah Hta Middle School
During July, due to continuous heavy rain, many civilians in Karen State and throughout Myanmar are facing a flooding disaster. In the education sector, some schools need to close because of flooding.
On July 26, in HPa-An District, Lu Pleh Township, Mae Tha Wah Hta Middle School was flooded due to nonstop rain for more than ten days. Now (26/7/2024), some school buildings in lower-lying areas are completely flooded.
A local leader said, “The school is located in a lower part of the land near the river. When the river overflows, the school gets flooded.
