Drone strike on Noh Htaw Aye (Tha Min Aye Gone) Primary School
On November 11, 2024, SAC Battalion 264 allegedly conducted a deliberate drone strike on Noh Htaw Aye (Tha Min Aye Gone) Primary School in Ler Doh Township, Kler Lwe Htu District. The attack resulted in the total destruction of the school buildings and severe damage to educational materials. This incident marks the second attack on the school, the first having occurred on October 16, 2024, when parts of the building and few classrooms were damaged. This latest assault has rendered the school unusable.
A community member believes the initial attack may have been intended to ascertain whether the building was indeed a school. Once confirmed as an educational facility, the school was subsequently targeted again for complete destruction.
This targeted assault on an educational institution not only halts children’s development but also undermines the future of our country. As an organization committed to supporting children’s education, we strongly condemn this unlawful act and urge the international community to consider this case seriously and take steps to prevent further attacks on educational facilities.
