We are deeply saddened to report that on the evening of May 29, 2025, around 7:00 p.m., a school boarding house in Kwee Lah Shu Village was bombed by military aircraft. According to local sources, four studentswere injured in the attack.A village elder confirmed that one of the bombs landed near the school’s football field, while another exploded within the monastery compound. “Two aircraft came twice and dropped bombs, including one large bomb with multiple submunitions,” the elder reported. The injured students are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
This tragic incident highlights the ongoing, systematic attacks by the SAC on civilian areas, including schools, and poses a serious threat to the safety and future of education in Kawthoolei. As a result, parents and villagers are increasingly fearful and hesitant to send their children to school, while teachers and education administrators face constant danger and uncertainty in continuing their work.
We call for immediate attention from the international community and stand in solidarity with the affected students, families, and communities.
