Starting from September 12, 2024, we noticed the flooding occurred in Taw Oo District. And this natural disaster destroyed local crops and caused the deaths of community members, including two students. On September 13, 2024, in Taw Oo District, Htaw Ta Htoo Township, Htaw Ma Aye Middle School, two schoolgirls lost their lives due to the flooding.

A community member said, “I am really depressed because our paddy fields are completely flooded. Farmers like us, what are we going to eat? One villager drowned this morning (September 15, 2024), and until now, we haven’t even found the body yet. Two days ago, two students drowned, and their bodies were cremated today.”

The natural disaster has caused serious concern and hardship for the local people. The Karen Education and Culture Department shares the same grief as the families directly affected by the disaster.

လီၢ်ကဝီၤဖိတဂၤစံးဝဲ “ပသးဟးဂီၤဒိၣ်မးဘုသ့ၣ်တဖၣ် လီၤဘျၢလၢၥ်လံ, ပဝဲပှၤထူစံၥ်ဖိသ့ၣ်တဖၣ်ပကအီၣ်က့ၤမတၤလဲၣ်? တဂီၤအံၤ(၁၅/၉/၂၀၂၄) သဝီဖိလီၤအုးတဂၤ, တုၤခဲအံၤ ပှၤတထံၣ်အီၤဒ်ဘၣ်. အပူၤကွံၥ် ခံသီ ကၠိဖိလီၤအုးခံဂၤ ပှၤမၤဂ့ၤမၤဝါ ပှၤကုၢ်ထီၣ်က့ၤအီၤ တနံၤအံၤန့ၣ်လီၤ.”
